The Dirty Dozen: 2009 Top Collegiate Pitching Programs

The Dirty Dozen list at PitchInside.com has been comprised by Coach Sinacori to help young pitchers scout out some of the very best pitching programs in the nation. This list is intended for use as a resource with regards to some of the best pitching programs in college baseball. It is not reflective of the best “overall” programs, only the best “pitching” programs, and was compiled from years of experience as well as personal opinion. Having the experience of coaching at ASU in the PAC-10 and WFU in the ACC, there are just certain things that a good college coach knows, and one of them is the recognition of a well coached pitching staff. When it comes to pitching it is easy to see the programs that have true instruction going on, as opposed to programs that are surviving on their prestigious names only.

The way a pitching coach handles his bullpen, controls the running game, goes about the pre-game, how effective his mound visits are, and the attention he gives to his pitchers in the bullpen are all indications of a well qualified pitching coach. Just remember that going to a top name program will not necessarily mean you are getting top pitching instruction. While the Dirty Dozen lists Coach Sinacori choice for the top 12 pitching programs, it does, of course, leave out some very good pitching coaches and programs across the country. However, if you are a pitcher that is being recruited by a lot of Division I schools, this list is a good gauge of where you will continue to develop and get great instruction.
